Automated Statements FAQ


Q. Will I need to update my software?


A. If you are on our Cloud platform you will not. The only change will be the icon used to send statements. For more details see How to Send Automated/Electronic Statements on the Azure/Cloud Environment.

If you are on premise, we will be alerting you to more details shortly as you will need to download and install a new utility that enables you to transmit your statements.


Q. Where are my automated statements now being sent?

A. Your automated statements are now being sent to the Carestream Dental clearinghouse. This is the same clearinghouse to which you have been sending your insurance claims.


Q. Will I still get an email or fax print confirmation after I send my statements?

A. You will no longer get a print or fax confirmation, but you will find a statement report as part of your electronic claim reports. Just like claims, this report will be available the following business day. Q. Does it cost more to send my statements through Carestream Dental?

A. No it will not. The cost for Automated Statements currently remains the same.


Q. Will the statements my patients receive look the same?

A. While they will not look exactly the same, they do look very similar. They remain multi-colored statements that also include a safety windowed return envelope.

***Please note that if you were one of the few practices that had their logo printed on the statements by ExpressBill, that option is not currently available.

Q. Will I need training to send statements electronically through this system?

A. No. The process of creating the statement file in WinOMS remains unchanged. You will have a new icon on your desktop (or Citrix Workspace for Cloud customers). This is a much simpler process than you were used to with FileZilla. You simply double click on the SendES icon and the software will automatically send the file to the Carestream Dental clearinghouse.

Q. How long will it take for my statements to get mailed out?

A. Statements are generally mailed out within 1-2 business days, which matches the timeframe that you previously experienced under ExpressBill.

Q. When I generate my statement batch I am still seeing the ExpressBill name on a couple of the WinOMS screens. Is that correct?

A. Yes, this is expected at this point. In order to make this new service available as quickly as possible, no changes were made to WinOMS itself, which then would have required your practice to upgrade the software. This would have further delayed your ability to resume sending statements electronically and this will be addressed in a future WinOMS release.
